Registration Process

Genetic Diversity Center Zürich

All users of the GDC are required to register by name and institution and provide a short project description. Every project registered will receive a project number and data storage space on the lab server. Data can be accessed via the ETHZ username (see instructions). The ETHZ username is also required to login to the lab computers and for the electronic instrument booking system. For users not employed at ETH, GDC will provide a ETHZ guest account.

  1. Registration

Start under "Project Registration" and let you guide through. All participants in the project (including the project supervisor) are required to register as a user. New and additional users you can register here. If a project member is already in the GDC database please list them only under "Project members" in the project registration form and do not register them again as user.

Please register the person under "User Registration" and add the project number in the "Project number" field.

  2. Project Approval

The project and user registration will be reviewed by the GDC. Once the project is confirmed by the project leader and approved by the GDC you will receive a project number and an ETHZ username if required. Additionally, every project will receive a project folder on our lab server. Data on this server is backed-up daily and is accessible until the user account and/or the project is closed. All members of the project have access to the project data folder with the ETHZ username. For access to Euler Niklaus Zemp needs to be contacted.

  3. First Meeting

Before you start working, we will meet with you personally to discuss the details of the project. During this meeting we also introduce you to the laboratory rules and inform you about the operating procedure in the GDC lab (for lab users) and/or inform you about our data policy (for bioinformatics projects). Once you have accepted and signed the lab rules and read the data management policy, you are allowed to use the GDC facilities.
